OUR APPROACH

Sustainability only works when it becomes part of the everyday choice. Not hidden in a report, but built into hybrid options, conscious recipes, guest nudging and standards that fit tenants and match with our guests’ lifestyle.

 

We set sustainability in motion by making it easier to make better choices. More local, more seasonal. More hybrid and plant-based proteins. Less waste. Better use of office space, energy and resources. 

 

In high-end offices, sustainability is part of real estate value. WELL, BREEAM, workplace health, tenant experience, and ESG ambitions come together in the restaurant. We Canteen is WELL & BREEAM ready and tailored to every building. That is where we can make an impact people can taste.

  • Signed the Ambition Statement 2026 – 2030 of the GBC Zuidas.

  • Is MVO Prestatieladder Level 3 certified.

  • Investigated CO2 emissions (scope 1, 2 & 3) in 2025. This emission should be halved by 2030.

Storytelling plays a key role in explaining why we choose hybrid or plant-based dishes, and why ingredients such as legumes, nuts and vegetables deserve the spotlight.

 

Guided by our Head Chef’s food vision of ‘less noise, more flavour’, our chefs turn sustainability into tasteful dishes.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

WELL

We know, labels create more value. However, we set WELL into motion in our behavior and offer. So, our daily beverage assortment contains less than 25 grams of sugar per drink, unless stated otherwise. At We Canteen, we encourage the healthiest choice by communicating about it.

 

We serve our food on smaller plates to help prevent oversized portions and to support a balanced lifestyle. Where possible, we offer organic and local fresh products. And we are enthusiastic in organizing food markets or building greenhouses to encourage the use and growth of local products. It’s all about set things into motion.

BREEAM

As part of D&B The Facility Group, we are happy to advise you on any certification of BREEAM. BREEAM goes beyond food and beverage: it is embedded across multiple services. That’s where we match. From restaurant seating and building-wide waste monitoring to nourishment facilities, community activities and mobility concepts. We provide it all.

THIS IS WE CANTEEN

This means choosing We Canteen:

01

Company restaurant concept, also called food court – built up in several serving islands.

02

Only fresh, on-site preparation. In other words: no dark kitchens or semi-finished products.

03

Minimum 20m² preparation kitchen and 50m² serving area.

04

The seating area must provide space for at least 100 seats.

05

Worldly cuisine with daily varying cold and hot dishes.

06

Our food courts are essentially called We Canteen. We're happy to develop a customized white-label concept.
